    About Us

    Electronics and Communication Engineering has gained importance in recent years due to its versatile application in every facet of engineering field. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of James College of Engineering and Technology is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the largest and fastest growing fields of engineering. In James College of Engineering and Technology Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 2007. The department currently has an intake of 120 students for Bachelor of Engineering Programme and 24 for Master of Engineering Programme in Communication Systems.

    The department has highly educated Faculty members having a vast experience in their field. The department has a well-balanced workforce having experience in academics and in Industries. Faculties make every effort to ensure that the students "learn how to learn" and how to become leaders and pioneers, emphasizing fundamental principles that respond to and create technological changes that challenge the exceptional ability of James College of Engineering and Technology students. The staff members are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences, symposia and refresher courses to keep in pace with recent developments in the field of Electronics & Communications Engineering.

    A good number of text books are available in the department library. Students can access Data books/ Hand books, Previous Question Papers, Project Reports, Seminar Reports, Lab Manuals and Technical Reports. A good number Educational CDs are also available in the library.

    The Alumni of our department are distributed all over the globe as top bureaucrats and administrators in leading industrial houses like ABB, Yokogowa, IBM, INFOSYS, CTS, HP, INTEL, DRDO, ISRO, etc..

    Labs

    • Communication lab - Various analog communication fundamentals viz., Amplitude modulation, and demodulation, angle modulation and demodulation. Noise performance of various receivers and information theory with source coding theorem are dealt practically in this Lab.
    • Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab – This lab facilitates to Know practicality about the architecture, programming, interfacing and rudiments of system design of microprocessors and microcontrollers.
    • Electronics circuit & Devices Lab - The aim of this lab is to familiarize the student with the analysis and design of basic electronic devices & circuits such as Amplifier circuits, power supplies etc...
    • Microwave Lab – This Lab enables the student to become familiar with active & passive microwave devices & components used in Microwave communication systems.
    • Optical fiber communication Lab – This lab introduces the various optical fiber modes, configurations and various signal degradation factors associated with optical fiber. It also facilitates to study about various optical sources and optical detectors and their use in the optical communication system.
    • Optical fiber communication Lab – This Lab enable the student to study the various types of antennas and its wave propagation in a practical manner.
